ViK Sovereign ReserveBUSHIDO
Description
A samurai's final breath, etched in wood and pearl
The entire concept of this project centers around a single, extraordinary moment—seconds before death.
But this is no scene of fear, panic, or violence. It's a moment of stillness. Of peace. Of reflection.
It's about a life lived with purpose. A path followed with unwavering discipline. And the acceptance that the next step—death—is simply part of the journey.
This inlay was designed to capture that precise instant: when the enemy's sword is mid-air, time seems to freeze, and a sakura petal drifts past your face. There's no resistance. Only presence. Harmony with the natural order.
In that blink of an eye, a warrior understands the beauty of everything he's ever stood for. There's a calm surrender to fate—a true embodiment of Bushidō.
The client asked for a samurai-themed inlay, but wanted something deeper—a story. I was given complete creative freedom to build that story and breathe life into it visually. What followed was one of the most challenging and emotionally layered pieces I've ever created.

The Details That Bring It to Life
BUSHIDO is part of our ViK Vision line, and it wears that proudly—with all signature features glowing in crimson clarity:
Oversized glow-in-the-dark ViK logo on the headstock
Matching glowing purfling, side dots, and knob topper
Subtle, striking red Fishman pickups
Black & red Sophia 2:92 Pro tremolo, perfectly in sync with the story's palette
The body is crafted from lightweight, resonant figured black limba, topped with a master-grade quilted maple top, hand-stained to a deep blood red and blackburst edge—like a battlefield fading into shadow.
And then there's the neck:
A super-stable Madagascar rosewood blank from the early 1990s, aged to perfection and paired with a split ebony fingerboard—Madagascar ebony and black & white ebony—hosting the entire inlay narrative across its face. Every visual element was cut, engraved, and inlaid with intention.
From concept to execution, BUSHIDO tells a story of honor, presence, and poetic finality—one last breath, made eternal in wood, stone, and light.
