WINTERFELL
Description
Winterfell is one of those custom projects where the customer knew exactly what they wanted — and my job was simply to execute the vision to its fullest.
As the name suggests, the concept was inspired by the acclaimed book series and TV show Game of Thrones, specifically the city of Winterfell, stronghold of the Stark dynasty — Kings in the North.
We implemented a direwolf emblem inlay at the first fret, crafted from natural abalone and detailed with fine engraving. Another standout (in the literal, chilly sense) was the ice-cold sub-zero finish the customer requested for the 5A curly maple top. A beautiful and subtle finish — but also a challenging one. I think it came out great.
The black and white ebony fingerboard tied everything together visually and added just the right contrast to complete the frosty, northern aesthetic.
Winterfell is a great example of an instrument where every element is thoughtful, deliberate, and in harmony with the concept. Projects like this are always a pleasure to work on.
