Take the neck joint, for example. Why are ViK necks set so deep — reaching all the way into the neck pickup cavity? It's not for show. It's to preserve maximum contact between neck and body, creating a stronger, more resonant connection. At the same time, I remove a significant amount of body mass in that area, virtually eliminating the "heel." The result? Unrestricted access to the upper frets, making your playing effortless.

Or take the headstock. I'll never use a scarf joint for an angled headstock — ever. Why? Because tone and integrity matter more than production shortcuts. I spend the extra time crafting what I call the "Italian lock" — a one-piece look with multi-piece construction that keeps the resonant part of the neck fully intact, unified in grain and structure.

Even the finish tells a story.

• Resonance – a light satin nitro finish lets the body breathe and vibrate freely. Glossy polyester would stifle it.
• Aging – nitro allows the wood to interact with its environment, aging gracefully like a fine instrument should.
• Beauty – I select premium woods. Why bury them under glass? The satin lets their natural character shine.
• Practicality – satin is easier to maintain. Scratches age with dignity. Gloss doesn't.
• Focus – a natural satin back puts all eyes on the glossy top — and oh, do they deserve attention.
